The concept is simple: presenters each show 20 slides, and each slide is shown for 20 seconds. Originally created as a way for designers and architects to share new projects and ideas, Pecha Kucha (Japanese for “chit chat”) has expanded to include participants from virtually every field. Presenters include artists, politicians (Toronto mayor David Miller, for example), comedians, and journalists, among others. Though the concept is only six years old, 2008 saw an impressive 370 Pecha Kucha nights around the world.
I just discovered this because my talented friend Jesse Savath spoke at a event in Vancouver. Click on the link to see his bit.

Farmer's Markets!!!
Looks like it's that time of year. Canadian produce is back in full swing and we get to enjoy the literal fruits of the season. Here is a schedule of Local eats. Nothing makes me happier then buying food directly from the growers.

loco pops
This is a great shop in Durham, North Carolina that sells amazing flavored popsicles. Fiona and I had a Strawberry and Balsamic one, and wanted to try the Mexican Chocolate but 2 school busses of kids showed up leaving us wanting more.

Jet Blue Airways
Well i booked a couple of Jet Blue flights part of my eastern adventure. I am currently sitting in JFK Terminal 5 and am pleasantly surprised. The modern design coupled by upbeat 80's hit music, Law and Order playing on the tv, free wifi, and CIBO express gourmet markets. What i like about this market concept is that i am able to eat healthy. I had a massive salad from the salad bar, and a yoghurt and granola. They had tons of really creative goodies which i decided to stay away from but they looked SO good. I imagine my flight will follow suit and impress me too. This is the way Flying should be done.
Inner City Pressure
When i first arrived in New York, i noticed everyone was so serious, and even frowning. It's sad when your life gets to the point that when you smile at someone they think you are on some uppers. This city does wears you down though, the noise, the energy, but it is also inspiring. It is a unique place, and i do wish to return hopefully one day soon.

Momofuku
I absolutely love all the new and unique places to eat in New York. Tonight we are going to Momofuku located on 13th st and 2nd Avenue in the East Village. We are trying the Milk bar which at first i thought meant it was a gay bar, but it's actually a desert bar. Seasonal menus created by two local women include items like soft serve ice cream flavored with red licorice or gummy bear or appealing to me is banana cake* -
banana cream, hazelnut crunch, gianduja fudge. YUM.

Rooftop Films
One thing i loved about the summer was watching films from the projector on my friend Jesse's massive deck in East Van. Nothing nicer then being outside with the fresh summer air, a cold beer, good company, and a good flick. I am in NYC right now and just exploring cool things in Brookyln and found this Rooftop Films organization that gathers to watch films overlooking the city. So rad.

Dancers
I met Jeremy Shaw 10 years ago through my ex boyfriend who was heavily involved in the electronic music scene. He was just a kid, and so was i, but he took his music down another avenue, that has blossomed into this unique, ethereal, catchy rifts that is Circlesquare. He has also involved himself in a book called DMT where he records several people experiences with the mass hallucingon, taking on a more artistic feel of the other side. He is also involved in a art project in collaberation with the 2010 olympic campaign in Vancouver, and his posters are showing up around town and making Vancouver look back to the good ole days of Expo 86. This is one of new videos from Bienvenido Cruz. Check out photos here from the pre shoot.

The snow is pink
It's that time of year again when our city fills with the beautiful colours of spring. More Cherry Blossoms then any person can really handle and now they are slowly snowing us in.
