Stuart Slind - artist
A great video done on my step father Stuart Slind. He did not start painting until he met my mother 19 years ago, and she pushed and supported him while he explored, and focused on painting. As he says in the video, he worked hard at it, and that is something i think anyone has to do in order to be successful at anything. Passion and love make up for the rest of it. I am very proud of Stuart and his commercial success, but it doesn't go to his head. He practices yoga and can hold a head stand longer then most people, and has shifted from Zen Buddhism to Vippassanna meditation over the years. Making there home on Bowen Island, sets for an idillic space to create and is often transferred into his works. Check out his website here, or his work at the Bau-xi gallery, his next show is January 2010.

Heartbeats - Jose Gonzales
I got to meet Jose at Sled Island two years ago and he was so gentle, and kind. His music carries the same energy.

Raindrops by Basement Jaxx
If you haven't heard Basement Jaxx's awesome new comeback-not-comeback single, "Raindrops", now would be a good opportunity to catch up on one of the better recent jams. The tune gets a fittingly psychedelic video, with kaleidoscopic visuals and lots of crazy masks.

Inner City Pressure
When i first arrived in New York, i noticed everyone was so serious, and even frowning. It's sad when your life gets to the point that when you smile at someone they think you are on some uppers. This city does wears you down though, the noise, the energy, but it is also inspiring. It is a unique place, and i do wish to return hopefully one day soon.
