la taqueria

la taqueria, originally uploaded by luckyfish.

I managed to work for 6 months 2 blocks from La Tauquira at 233 W. Hastings St. and never got here. Well i tried once but they are cash only and i didn't have cash. So i went in and got the 4 soft vegetarian tacos for 7$ . . and they were DELICOUS! My friend got the meat and pescado options and like them all except the pork.
The one thing that was missing was a beer !

Pie de foto

There is something about pulling my flip flops out of the bottom of my closet and having them in my hallway that makes me so utterly excited. In a few days i embark on a trip down south. I am going to Colombia, in South America. I hope to spend most of my days sockless, in skirts, wandering around, and trying to remember my spanish words. I start in Bogota, the third highest city in the world which will do nothing for my predesposition to altitude sickness. That just means i only need to have one drink to feel alright. I head North towards Medellin, and then Cartagena, Santa Marta, and where ever else anyone recommends. It's a short trip, but very much needed. I return from Colombia via Miami where i am spending a few days with some dear friends. I have been down there a couple of times so instead of the usual stuff we are heading down to Key Largo for some more beach time and snorkelling. By then i should have a flip flop tan.

Cheap Tuesdays are back

Canada seems to be the only place that harnesses Cheap Movie Theatre Tuesday. It seemed to have gone away for awhile but now it's back! I saw "The Runaways" which i have to say rocked in more ways then one. The story of 70's rocker Joan Jett is one that i did not know but is inspiring as a women who learned to not take shit from the people who said women were not meant to be rock stars. Something that still echo's to this day unfortunately but it doesn't mean you can't do it .. and she did it.

hopeless

focus focus focus

On what? How do you focus when you have been focusing so hard on 2 huge goals that are now completed. I have so many ideas but no focus. I think i am rested now. But maybe i should go on a vacation.

The Show is over

I have never worked with such an amazing team of people. I just completed a 5 month contract with David Atkins Enterprises, the company directly responsible for creating and producing the Opening and Closing Ceremonies for the Vancouver 2010 Winter Olympics.
My pride and honor is masked with exhaustion and a neck kink from the permanent presence of a radio attached to my shoulder. Lack of days off and sleep, followed by no yoga, but one positive is the amount of walking i have been doing. My legs are aching but it's from walking a ton and i will continue my walking regime but on the seawall instead of BC Place Stadium.
The different teams i have come close to include the most amazing choreographers, and stage managers in the world. The people i feel most close to (other then casting) is the Londoners. Really that dry sense of humor is right up my ally.. and i never knew it. I will definitely be joining them for a pint in the UK, followed by some sunshine in Australia. I will go where the wind takes me, and the energy of a highly organized team of people that want to put on a superb, world class event arises. The adrenalin is contagious and infectious, and when i was on the field last night after our Hip Hoppers did there thing with 100's of athletes wearing there snazzy uniforms and holding there medals with pride.. i realized anything is really possible. We can do it all. We don't need to limit ourselves. If we have an idea and we communicate it, it may get heard (My idea for the 3 armed caldron with the 4th coming up as a spoof actually happened!!).
Tonight our wrap party includes none other then Inxs... it should be a wicked time, to add onto the pile of ones we have already had. Just in time for another hang over and another day off. We all quite as of midnight last night.. well we were laid off but we like to say we quite, and our boss thinks it's funny too, and that's another reason why i love(d) my job.
